Who: All residents of Finksburg
and its environs are invited
What: To attend the Finksburg Planning Area Council Inc., general
membership meeting
When: Thursday June 24th at 7 p.m.
Where: Sandy Mount United Methodist Church
AG Preservation:
This month’s meeting is about preserving farmland and retaining Carroll County’s beauty. Bill Powell from the Carroll County Agricultural Preservation Program will explain how the program operates. He will probably show a short video. Also, Ned Cueman, Easement Coordinator for the Carroll County Land Trust will attend and tell us about the Land Trust's work.
Library Approved:
Carroll
County is advertising for architects to present proposals for the new Finksburg
Library. The commissioners approved the
library and library headquarters last month.
They will be constructed on 10.7
acres near Sandy Mount Park.
Transportation 2030 Meeting:
FPAC
President John Lopez and board member Jim Johnson attended the Transportation
2030 meeting May 12th in Canton, Baltimore City. The discussion was about various
transportation plans for the Baltimore metropolitan area. The various proposals are evaluated state
and local transportation leaders and scored on their importance. Out of a possible score of 100, the proposed
interchange improvements at routes 91 and 140 scored 66.97, which is low
meaning not a high priority. The cost of the project is estimated at $25
million with a completion date of 2020.
Billboard Ban In Wash County:
Another
Maryland county has put the clamps on billboard construction. Washington County commissioners have voted
to ban new billboard construction for 90-days so county planners can come up
with new recommendations on height and location restrictions. Washington County allows billboards of up to
1,000 square feet. Carroll County last
year imposed a size limit on new billboard construction in the county.
FPAC Picnic Next Month:
The
annual FPAC picnic is scheduled for Thursday July 22nd at Sandy
Mount Park. The picnic will begin at 6
p.m. It’s always a great time of food,
drink and fun. Please attend and tell a
friend.
Trash Pickup Coming:
The next trash
pickup will be Saturday, July 10th. We
will meet at 8 a.m. in the Finksburg Plaza Shopping Center. We will be picking up trash along Route 91
south of Route 140. Please make plans to come out and help
cleanup Finksburg.
